Let’s Save Fargo–Or At Least Let’s Give It A Shot

by Harald ~ March 23, 2009

Hey everyone,

There is a great chance that Fargo might flood extensively, to help reduce the harm people are called upon from all around to help sandbag or build dikes.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, buses will leave from the Union at 8a and 1p to Fargo.
The shifts will be 3-4 hours.
For more information you can call Student Government at (701) 777-4377

I hope to see as many of you there tomorrow, helping to save Fargo–even if that means saving a Bison or two.

All the best,

Harald P. Brevik
President
College Republicans

We have Daschle:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9648BP81&show_article=1

WASHINGTON (AP) - Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary. That’s according to a joint White House statement from President Barack Obama and his former nominee.

Obama said Tuesday he accepted the withdrawal “with sadness and regret.”

Daschle has been battling for his nomination since it was disclosed he failed to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.

He said he’s withdrawing because he’s not a leader who has the full faith of Congress and will be a distraction.

Revitalization & Reorganization

by Greg ~ February 3, 2009

With the election of Michael Steele to the position of RNC Chairman, the Republican Party has been revitalized, and given new hope for the future.  Our new Democratic President has been in office for barely a few weeks, and he’s already attempting to push a bill through the House and Senate that will, in one fell swoop, spend more than our former President has spent on the Iraq War since 2003, and an unbelievably large amount of the bill is blatant pork that will not help the economy one bit.

Us fiscal conservatives cannot let this happen.  It’s already gotten through the House, but it’s not through the Senate yet.  Contact your local Senator and make sure that they resist voting on this “Stimulus” bill unless the pork is excessively trimmed.

Minnesota Vote Canvassing Board’s Inconsistency shows Liberal Bias

by Greg ~ December 22, 2008

It’s been pretty quiet here at UNDCR.com, as we’ve been holding our breath waiting for the Coleman/Franken race to be decided.  The headlines late last week suddenly showed Franken ahead of Coleman by less than a hundred votes.  Just today, though, Fox News has put up a piece showing how blatent the inconsistencies are by this “Canvassing Board,” showing how voting mistakes on ballots that show clear intent to vote for Coleman were thrown out, and other ballots with the same mistakes but with clear intent to vote for Franken were counted.

Read the piece here.

It’s funny how the Left has made a big conspiracy of apparant Conservative-fostered voting fraud after the 2004 Elections, yet Obama won in November (Clearly the Conservative Voting Conspirators took off for election day, or something), and now Franken is soon to win in Minnesota through inconsistent tomfoolery by this “Canvassing Board.”  Amazing.

Obama Win Causes Obsessed Backers To See How Empty Lives Are

by Greg ~ November 10, 2008

I always found it ironic how terrible some of Ron Paul’s supporters were treated for being overzealous, yet the crazed Obama supporters who find no fault in their Messiah receive a free pass from society. Thankfully, The Onion disagrees.

My Remarks on the Election

by Greg ~ November 6, 2008

First, congratulations to Gov. Hoeven, Stacy Dahl, and Adam Hamm for their reelection.  I’m sure they will continue to serve us with the excellence that they have demonstrated in the past.

Of course…we didn’t win them all.  I think there are a number of reasons as to why events unfolded as they did on Election Day, but I think the major reasons behind the results can be summed down to two: “Republican” becoming a “dirty word,” and a huge turnout of young voters at the polls.

Because of the activities of our current president, and of high-profile members of his cabinet and of Congress,  people have become disillusioned with the Republican Party, placing the blame for everything these few people have done on conservatives like me.  Many of these people are of my generation, late teen/early 20-somethings whose major experience with Republicans has been solely the Bush Administration.  This new generation drank Obama’s Kool-Aid like a frat boy drinking booze on an initiation night, and showed up in droves to vote against what Obama told them was a genetic clone of President Bush.

I’m not placing all of the blame on the left, though.  The Republican party has indeed lost its way, and delivered a candidate for this election that did not speak for the majority of conservatives.  Heck, even a UND College Republican Vice President (who shall remain nameless) put “F**k John McCain” in his Facebook status, as he had become a Bob Barr supporter.

Instead of jumping ship, we need to reform the Republican party, and make it the Grand Old Party it once was.  After Tuesday, we’ve been left to lick our wounds, but if the new president will drive us into a Socialist abyss, people will be clamoring for “Change” from his “Change” in four years.  We’ll just wait and see.

Joe Wurzelbacher Interviewed on Good Morning America

Great interview where Joe makes clear his complaints with Obama’s tax plan, and plainly spells out how Socialist they are.

McCain blasts Obama on Ayers, “Joe The Plumber” (Part 2)

by Greg ~ October 16, 2008

And sure enough, as I predicted last night, here it begins!

Daily Kos has a piece up this morning asking if “Joe The Plumber” (Joe Wurzelbacher is his real name) is related to Robert Wurzelbacher, the latter of which was implicated in the Keating Five scandal back in the 1980s.  Despite this claim having absolutely zero evidence, it’s being taken seriously.  Thankfully the article on Daily Kos does not go so far as to state this as complete fact, however other leftist blogs are claiming otherwise.

Hasn’t the left learned their lesson from jumping on unsubstantiated rumors yet?  Have they forgotten when they accused Sarah Palin’s youngest daughter of being born by her teenage daughter instead of Palin, despite having no evidence, and swept that scandal under the rug as soon as they were proven wrong?  I suppose the answers to these questions are a big no and yes, respectively.  Doesn’t surprise me, though

McCain blasts Obama on Ayers, “Joe The Plumber”

by Greg ~ October 16, 2008

As much as I love to see Barry Obama scramble for defense when confronted on the Bill Ayers issue, it doesn’t hold a candle to my satisfaction when McCain mentioned the Plumber Obama talked to last week (detailed in the post just under this one), and how Obama wanted to tax him more to “Spread the wealth around.”  McCain especially shined when he asked Obama why he wanted to raise taxes for anyone right now.

I can’t wait to see how the liberal media will spin this, which I expect to be attacks against  Joe and accusations of greed being brought against him for complaining about “a little 3% tax hike.”  Look forward to many liberal cry-fests in the next few days, spinning downright Socialism/Communism into something that Americans should welcome with open arms!

Obama Explains Exactly What his Philosophy is to a Plumber

by Greg ~ October 13, 2008

“It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too.”

I can’t believe that people actually take this guy seriously. He’s a modern day Robin Hood.

Obama tries a new ad that attempts to pander to 2nd Amendment enthusiasts

by Greg ~ October 8, 2008

Smells like desperation to me.

Sorry Barry, I’m not stupid enough to believe for one second that you support the 2nd Amendment. I’ve seen your record, and it’s not one that is pro-2nd Amendment. You’d be the most anti-gun president ever elected, sir, and for that you’ll never have my vote.

NBC Pulls “bailout” skit video from last week’s Saturday Night Live from their website

by Greg ~ October 7, 2008

If the Palin bashing present on SNL wasn’t enough to convince you which political position the show, and network, heavily lean to, this debacle should be all the convincing you need:

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/06/the-missing-snl-bailout-skit-and-the-soros-connection/

Over the weekend, I watched a hilarious, dead-on, and surprisingly honest skit on Saturday Night Live about the craptastic bailout and its Democrat roots. The skit called out Fannie/Freddie and featured Nancy Pelosi dragging out various sob-story “victims” — who turned out to be a parade of deadbeats and schemers. I was going to post the video for you tonight, but I can’t.

The video has been pulled. Vanished into thin air. (Go here for full transcript and screenshots.)

Where did it go and why?

I have a theory.

Obama funnels state money to his own family?

by Greg ~ October 7, 2008

Sure seems that way.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D93LB1280&show_article=1&lst=1

The Associated Press has probed Barack Obama’s earmarking activities in the Illinois state senate and discovered two grants that put state money in the hands of Michelle Obama’s cousin. Capers Funnye received $75,000 from Obama for his organization, Blue Gargoyle, for adult literacy and youth group activities

I like Hot Air’s take on the issue:

So Obama had no idea that his wife’s cousin ran this group when he earmarked the money? That seems very, very difficult to believe. Funnye had to apply for the grants, and his name would have been on the application. Just the act of filing that application with Obama makes it clear that he sought favors from Obama, specifically Obama, and that Obama granted them.

Funnye claims that the earmarks (called “member initiatives” in Illinois) met legislative guidelines, but none existed during that period for earmarks. Legislators could spend taxpayer money without restriction and used the system to reward constituencies — and cronies. The governor wanted a major public-works bill passed, and in order to get that, made hundreds of millions of dollars available for politicians like Obama to spread around. In other words, the governor (Republican Jim Edgar at that time) paid off the legislature with earmarks that strengthened their political standing in their districts.

CNN Story about Obama’s connections to Ayers

by Greg ~ October 7, 2008

The best part is when Anita Dunn, listed an an “Obama Senior Adviser,” tries to play the “But Obama was only 6 when Ayers did his terrorist attacks!!11″ card, and how the reporter doesn’t listen to a second of it. Always nice to see CNN pull a good story out of their hat once and again.

Scary. That’s all I have to say about these videos.

by Greg ~ October 4, 2008

Hard to say what’s worse, the first or the second one (Though the youtube page of the 2nd one says this “march” was barred from ever taking place again for obvious political bias). While I can’t speak directly for the whole of CR (and so the following is my own opinion); personally, this brings back memories of another group of innocent children forced to learn, speak, and celebrate a certain political doctrine, and all but worship a political leader. I’m sure you know who and what I’m referencing, but here’s a hint if you’re not sure. Absolutely sickening.

New study says that Gun Shows do NOT contribute to high murder or suicide rates

by Greg ~ October 2, 2008

Well, imagine that. Here’s a press release from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms on the study:

http://www.ccrkba.org/pub/rkba/press-releases/gun.show.study.htm

BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today applauded a new joint University of Michigan – University of Maryland study that says gun shows do not contribute to higher murder or suicide rates.

“We’ve known all along that gun shows are not the arms bazaars for criminals and lunatics that anti-gunners have claimed,” said CCRKBA Legislative Director Joe Waldron. “This important research has now confirmed that such gatherings are not connected to homicide or suicide rates. The study reinforces earlier research done for the Department of Justice that found less than one percent of armed felons get their guns from gun shows.

“Gun control lobbyists are already claiming the report is flawed,” he continued. “What else would they say about research that demolishes one of their most hysteria-driven platforms? The tide is turning on the gun rights issue, because research trumps rhetoric every time.”

The study, released Wednesday by the UM’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, compared data from Texas and California, two markedly different states. Researchers gathered crime and suicide data from the periods surrounding more than 3,400 gun shows to determine that restrictive regulations had no impact on murder or suicide rates in the month following those gun shows.

UND Students for Concealed Carry on Campus gets media coverage for their “X Marks The Spot” Event!

by Greg ~ October 2, 2008

http://www.valleynewslive.tv/artman2/publish/valleynewslive_topheadlines/8901.shtml

Always good to see other groups with conservative (or even just Constitutional, something that Liberals forget a bit too many times) viewpoints on campus fighting for rights!

Here’s their Press release on the event:

“UND STUDENTS FOR CONCEALED CARRY ON CAMPUS PRESENT ‘X MARKS THE SPOT’ EVENT ON UND CAMPUS”

9/30/08 – Grand Forks, ND: The University of North Dakota Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (UND SCCC), part of the nationwide group Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC), is proud to present “X Marks The Spot,” an event consisting of chalk X shapes drawn in areas of the campus that one may be subject to a personal crime (such as robbery, assault, rape, etc) without much of an avenue for escape or help. Alongside the X shapes is the Internet website address of UND SCCC, which displays statements explaining the purpose of the X shapes, that being to educate individuals about the constant threat of personal attack on campus, and to explain to them that both UND University policy and State policy severely hampers their ability to retaliate against such a personal attack, as defensive devices such as Pepper Spray, Mace, and Concealed Carry Permits (Which allow an individual to lawfully carry a concealed weapon that may be used in self-defense) are either not honored, against state law on campus, or banned per university policy on the UND Campus.
